His family, friends and community knew him as ‘Dad’, 'Grandpa', ‘Bocho’ or ‘The Barbershop Man’. Ambrosio was born, raised and lived in Freeport Texas. He served during the Korean War for two tours of duty and had many stories to tell of his time overseas.
He established a Barber Shop in 1955 and his shop was one of the only original remaining businesses still operating in Freeport until he closed his doors a year ago. He loved every minute of his time as a barber. He was just as happy to give his customers a cut and a shave as he was to visit with them. Many of his birthdays were spent celebrating with his friends and customers at his barbershop.
Ambrosio is survived by his brother Angel O. Gutierrez and sister Dominga ‘Sandy’ Gutierrez Fleming. He is also survived by his daughter Adelka Gregory, son Anthony Gutierrez, son-in-law Scott Gregory, daughter-in-law Jenny Gutierrez, grandchildren Nathan Gregory, Brandon Gregory, Tate Gutierrez, Emery Gutierrez, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 15, at Restwood Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 16, at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Restwood Memorial Park.
We will miss his stories. We will miss his love for life. We will miss his love for us. We will miss him.
