John was raised in Long Beach, CA and lived in Clovis for the last 54 years
Dr. John (Jack) Dibble was one of the UC scientists who built the Kearney Agricultural Center's reputation for first-rank agricultural research. Jack began his career at UC Berkeley in 1955 and earned his PHD in 1966. Fourteen years later, when the University was establishing the Kearney Ag Center near Parlier, Jack was reassigned. Though he said he was hesitant at first, “It was the best thing I ever did.” During his 36-year career in entomology, Jack's work has emphasized the screening of pesticides to determine how much and when to make applications for effective pest control. He also studied application techniques and integrated pest management. Retirement came in 1991, but after a year off, Jack continued his research from 1993 -1998 at the Kearney Ag Center.
Jack earned his U.S Naval School - Naval Justice Certificate in December 21, 1951 and served in USMC during WWII and Korea as a 1st Lt. for 6yrs. He was extremely proud to be a Marine and to serve his country.
Jack is preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Dibble and his daughter Darlene Gibson. Jack is survived by his sons, Jay R. Dibble and his wife Nancy J. Dibble of Oak Harbor, Wash, and Lance E. Dibble and his wife Carolyn Aluisi Dibble of Cody, WY: grandchildren Sam, Ben and Brady Dibble, Andrea and Jennifer Gibson, and six great-grandchildren.
A Graveside service for John will be held Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Clovis Cemetery, 305 North Villa Avenue, Clovis, California 93612.
