Esther T. Bird was born in Long Beach, CA to George and Gertrude Fulk. She was the second youngest of five children. She graduated from Excelsior High School, Norwalk, CA in 1945. She was the head Song/Cheerleader and was truly a cheerleader for others throughout her life.
She met her "one and only true love" the late, Donald C. Bird and were married on January 26, 1946. They shared a wonderful 57 years together.
She was a homemaker until 1976. She then went to work for Gottschalks Department store and worked there for 15 years. Her job as a demonstrator for small appliances enabled her to do what she loved best and that was to interact with others.
Her travels included Canada, Hawaii, beach trips, numerous National parks and camping across country.
She had a strong Christian faith and was a long time member of Fresno First Baptist Church. She volunteered in their thrift store, nursery, bible school and was chaperone on numerous youth trips.
Her spirit will live on in the legacy of her family. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Alexander of Fresno, Leslie Hoffman and husband Dave of Clovis and son Joel Bird and wife Julianna of Gig Harbor WA. She is also survived by her adored 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Boice Funeral Home 308 Pollasky Ave Clovis CA on Friday Feb 23 at 11:00am
