Salvatore Costa, “Sam”, age 91 of Clinton Township, Michigan, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on August 20, 2023. He is the beloved father of Margie Hargrave (Dave), Santo Costa (Lisa) and Susan Felker (Hans); Loving grandfather of Andrea Hargrave, Justin Hargrave, Anthony Costa and Ryan Costa; Dear brother of Anthony Costa, Nancy Lawrence and Joe Costa; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Sam is preceded in death by his wife, Ilene Costa, and previously by his first wife Delores, his oldest brother Joseph Costa and younger sister Angie Melton.
Sam was the kind of person who enjoyed both working in service to others, but also enjoyed maintaining his independence. He loved working with the Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit, participating in events with the Knights of Columbus, and acting as an usher with St. Peter Catholic Church in Mt. Clemens. He loved spending time with his family, he loved to read, was an avid golfer, loved to travel and he touched so many people in his 91 years of life. He will be deeply missed.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2023 from 2-8 PM at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, MI 48038. A brief visitation occur Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 10 AM, until time of the funeral service at 11 AM, also at Resurrection Funeral Home. Final committal service and entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Sam’s memory to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit.
