Robert E. Sager, 94, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on November 6, 1930, Robert lived a full and meaningful life, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and cherished memories.
As a young boy, Robert developed a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life. He found happiness in gardening, tending to his vibrant vegetables and flowers, and marveling at the birds that frequented his yard. Known for his knack for tinkering, Robert could fix just about anything, earning him a reputation as the go-to handyman among friends and family.
Robert was a proud and loyal sports fan. He held season tickets for the Detroit Lions for many years, cheering them on with unwavering enthusiasm. He was equally devoted to the Detroit Tigers, never missing an opportunity to support his favorite teams.
A man with a sharp wit and a dry sense of humor, Robert always had a clever remark to share—just loud enough for the person next to him to hear. His kindness and generosity knew no bounds; he would drop everything to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Robert’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He took great pride in creating special moments with each of them, ensuring they knew how much they were loved and valued.
After 30 years of dedicated service, Robert retired as a senior design engineer at General Motors, where his innovative mind and strong work ethic left a lasting impact.
Robert was the devoted husband of Donna for 66 wonderful years. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter. He was the beloved father of Edward (Kathy), Margie (Michael) Venetis, Sandy (Mike) Luettgen, and Scott (Eva). He was a cherished papa to Dennis, Robbie (Amanda), Corey (Megan), Riley, and Brianna, and a proud great-grandfather to Dennis and Abigail. He is also survived my many nieces and nephews.
Robert’s life was a testament to kindness, humor, and the importance of family. His love will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A memorial gathering for Robert will be held Monday, November 25, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road in Clinton Township.
