Pat lived a long and full life. She was born in England and survived World War II as a child. Pat had always been resilient in the face of adversity - even being separated from her parents at such a young age. She immigrated to the US from England as a teenager. She loved her job, working at Henry Ford Hospital as a PBX operator until she retired in May.
Those who knew Pat knew she never, ever seemed her age and was very tenacious. She loved to be glitzy and dressed to the nines. She adored her "nest" and kept it perfectly decorated. Pat had a creative spirit and crafting was one of her favorite things to do. She had an extensive collection for her crafting and her grandchildren always looked forward to getting one of her amazing, handmade cards for every special occasion or milestone. Pat was intensely proud of her 4 children and raised them up during tough economic times. She was resilient to the core.
She loved spending time with her "little people," whether it was having a smoke aka "doing the bad thing" with her eldest grandchild James during a family get together or sitting in a cold hockey arena watching her youngest two little people, Nick and Noah, play hockey. Nicole looked forward to their trips decor shopping. Patricia got great joy out of being Nana to her little people, who aren't so little anymore. If anyone ever dare refer to her as "grandma" she would sternly say, "I am not a grandma, I am THE Nana." She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Patricia is survived by her 4 children, Gary (Linda) Mayer, Kimberlie Carter, Kelly (David) Blunt, and Christopher Swift; her 9 grandchildren James (Nicole) Mayer, Kristie (Brent) Blunt-Welder, Nicole (Andy) Paschedag, Laura (Brandon) Scarborough, Justin (Imo) Mayer, Jessica (RJ) Grunewald, Nathan James Blunt, Nicholas Swift, and Noah Swift; 12 great-grandchildren, Devin, Nico, Eve, Jackson, Elijah, Eleanor, Emaline, Janie, Amadeus, Alice, Fiona, and Benjamin. She was preceded in death by, her husband, James Swift; her siblings Joan Furness, Frank Healey; and her parents, George Healey and Florence (Nicoll) Healey.
A memorial gathering for Patricia will be held at Faith Lutheran Church (in the Chapel), 37635 Dequindre, Troy, MI 48083 on Saturday, December 28 for 10:00am - 11:00am with an 11:00 am Memorial Service.
