She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose life was filled with love, adventure, and an enduring passion for her family and the world around her.
Patricia’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and the joy of embracing every moment. She was born in Detroit, Michigan in March of 1933 to Jacob and Mary Torchala. Patricia’s love story with her husband Bob began at his sister’s wedding, where the two first met. Their first date was planned as a trip to Boblo Island, but Bob instead surprised her with an evening at the Fox Theater. Following Bob’s military service, their paths crossed again, and they were married in 1955, beginning a beautiful journey together, building their tribe of 8 children, which has grown into a legacy of love with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Patricia had a love for athletics throughout her life. She coached basketball when her children were young and in school, inspiring teamwork and spirit. She also enjoyed playing volleyball through church and going bowling, always demonstrating a vibrant, competitive spirit. As an avid sports fan, she loved cheering for her Detroit Red Wings and Tigers, sharing the highs and lows of every season with her loved ones.
Following Bob’s retirement, Patricia embraced her adventurous side, traveling extensively with her husband. Together, they explored at least 40 of the 50 states, creating cherished memories across the country.
As many may know, Patricia also had a deep appreciation for butterflies. Her affinity for these beautiful creatures reflected in the many butterfly items she collected over the years.
