Norma Marie Fleming Mickey, 81, passed away on May 7, 2024. She was the loving wife of Thomas Mickey and the dear sister of Richard Fleming, Edward Fleming, Donald Fleming, and Patricia Dungan. Norma was born in Detroit on September 5, 1942, to Carson and Madeline Fleming. Norma graduated from Waterford Township High School in 1960 and went on to receive her associate's degree.
She had a distinguished career, working for the government at US Army TACON Command from 1961 to 1972. She then transferred to NORAD Headquarters in Colorado Springs before moving to Langley Air Force Base in Newport News, Virginia, in 1972 where she worked at Tac Headquarters. In 1985, she transferred to the 127th Wing at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, where she worked until her retirement in 2001.
Norma enjoyed traveling and cherished her home life with her husband and their dog. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carson and Madeline Fleming, and her stepmother, Mary Agnes Fleming, who was an important part of her life growing up. Norma is survived by her loving husband, Thomas, cherished siblings and several nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Visitation for Norma will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road in Clinton Township. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 9:30 am at St Michael's Catholic Church, 40501 Hayes Road in Sterling Heights. Friends may visit the church on Thursday beginning at 9:00 am.
