He was a lifelong resident of Clinton Township, but recently moved to Armada to be closer to his three youngest grandchildren Cole, Caroline and Lilah.
Jerry was a proud Vietnam Veteran having served with the Army in the 101st Airborne infantry also known as the Screaming Eagles. He was recognized by his Lieutenant for being an incredible leader and earned several military honors including the Bronze Star. Following the military he worked at Ford Motor Company and later become a finished carpenter before retiring in 2015.
He married the love of his life, Susan, on Valentine’s Day in 1981. Jerry cherished Susan and together they shared 43 years of marriage and beautiful memories.
Jerry was a selfless, kind and giving man with a big heart who would give anything he had to someone in need. He didn’t believe in holding grudges and always tried to see the best in everyone. He loved NASCAR, hanging out in his garage, scratch off lottery tickets and old trucks, but his greatest love was his family. One of the last things Jerry said to his wife Susan was, “Nobody loves their family more than I do. My girls Neeley, Kelly and Terissa and my boy Jerry.”
Jerry leaves behind his wife, Susan; three children: Jerry (Connie) Hauser, Neeley (Jeff) Freeman, and Kelly Hauser (Seth Jackson). He was a loving and proud Grandpa/Papa to Cole, Caroline & Lilah Freeman, Cody Smith, Larissa Strickland, Kayla (Brandon Brown), Chelsea (Jack) Crabtree, Shelia Boling, Jackie Mathis and five great-grandchildren.
He was the brother of Ronald (Beverly) Hauser, Linda (Mike) Carroll, and Sherry Washburn; brother-in-law to Karen (Will) Fritz, Nick Travis and Chris Travis. He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Terissa Hauser; brother, Doug Hauser; and brother-in-law, Michael Washburn.
Jerry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
