Dear Anne, Because I haven’t had any contact with Doug in a few years, I didn’t know he had died. I thought about Doug quite a lot over the years, I honestly don’t know why we stopped calling each other. Doug was a good friend of mine, we shared a lot of silly conversations over the years when we worked together and several hamburgers at Jimmie D’s.  I truly do miss him Ann, Doug was special to me in many ways, he really made me laugh and I needed that in my life. I know I will see Doug again because we shared good conversations about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Please accept this very late acknowledgment of Doug’s passing. There are many things this gentleman has done in his life. He was understanding, noble and very loving, although I was not his son, he and I would often keep in contact even after decades and he called me his adopted son and I'd call him my adopted father. The world lost a great man that day, my condolences go out to anyone and everyone who knows and feels the pain from this and although he is in Paradise we will still miss him and have a hole in our heart that no one else can fill..

as a distant cousin and not having had an opportunity to meet Douglas, my parents, Phyllis and William Maykowski, always spoke very lovingly of Douglas -- he had a special relationship with my dad - especially from what i remember as sweet, fun stories my parents would relay to me and that there was always something about his Uncle Bill - being a police officer - that attracted Douglas to dad -- 

to family, friends and all lives that have been touched by Douglas, it is with comforting, loving thoughts that i pray your grief be brief and your memories sweet --

We will never forget your phone call to Dan as a fictitious character pretending to be a school parent. You kept Dan perplexed on the phone for over an hour never really knowing why you called in the first place.  Dan was clueless. We enjoyed your practical jokes!

Ann -  My apologies for having typed in the wrong name.  The sentiment remains the same - I am sorry not only for the death of your husband but for the error.  Forgive me.  

My deepest condolences to Ann Marie, William, Steven, Alexander and Alexandria and Liam.  Doug, I remember way back when you were about 5, you always dressed up as a police officer and never lost your zest for law enforcement.  I am so glad I was able to see you last year at the surprise gathering Ann gave you for your 60th birthday.  Praying for the family.  We will miss you Doug!  May you RIP with no more pain.
