Cheryl Meerschaert, a devoted grandmother, loving mother, cherished sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on March 29, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family.
Cheryl’s greatest joy in life was her grandchildren, for whom she was a constant source of love and support. She volunteered at their school, loved attending school events, helping with lunch duty, and never missed a sporting event. To her grandchildren and their friends, she was affectionately known as “Gram-Cracker,” a name that perfectly captured her warm and sweet nature. She always looked forward to their hugs when coming to the school. She traveled across the country to San Diego for Thanksgiving to spend time with her son Todd and his children and grandchildren, cherishing the time spent with them creating precious memories. She spent summers making memories with her family by the pool, creating moments they will always treasure. An animal lover at heart, Cheryl always had treats ready for the family dogs, ensuring they felt just as special as the rest of the family. The family joke is that all the dogs preferred Grandma’s house! She also had a knack for gardening and kept a yard filled with vibrant flowers, reflecting the beauty she brought into the lives of those around her. Cheryl enjoyed golfing and took pride in keeping a spotless home, a reflection of her attention to detail and care.
Cheryl’s kindness, dedication, and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was the beloved wife of the late Clarence “Butch” Meerschaert; Loving mother of Lisa Wisniewski (Joel), Todd Meerschaert (Dana), Tammy Audet and Trina Holway (Jim); Cherished Grandma of Zoey, Tucker, Bryce, Colton, Mariah, Madison, Maxwell, LeeAnn, Caley, Connor, Kendall, Lauren, Ethan, and Baby Girl Wisniewski still on the way; Great-Grandma of Karson, Kannon, Remington and Tobias; Dear sister of Bruce Kashazta (Phyllis) and Arlene Collins; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Cheryl will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 2-8 PM at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, Clinton Twp, Michigan 48038. Following Friday, April 4, 2025, an in-state gathering will begin at 10:30 AM, with a funeral mass starting at 11 AM at St. Peter Catholic Church, 95 Market Street, Mt. Clemens, Michigan 48043.
