Faye Sawyer Landrum, 92, of Clinton, MS died of respiratory complications at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson on Monday, July 22, 2013. The funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church Chapel – Clinton, MS at 2 pm on Thursday, July 25, 2013, with visitation one hour prior to the service. The service will be officiated by Dr. Bill R. Baker. Burial will be at Clinton Cemetery.
Mrs. Landrum was born August 4, 1920, in Sylacauga, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Roseanne Sawyer.
After high school graduation, she continued her education at Montevallo College (now the University of Montevallo) where she worked as the secretary to the Dean of Women. She married Charles Clifton Landrum in 1942. She was employed by the DuPont Company, War Assets Administration, State of Alabama Personnel Department, Clinton Public Schools, and First Baptist Church of Clinton.
The Landrums enjoyed travel throughout the United States prior to settling in Clinton where she worked with Landrum Construction and Building Supply.
She was a charter member of Maids & Matrons Club, Federated Homemakers Club where she received awards for handmade entries, Women’s Missionary Union, Clinton Garden Lovers Club, and the Library Quilters Group. She taught Sunday School for many years and held G. A. meetings in her home.
Mrs. Landrum is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cliff Landrum, and their son Jeff C. Landrum, who passed away in March, 2001.
Mrs. Landrum was a talented seamstress and a skilled quilter. Her handmade quilts were given to members of her family. She also enjoyed shopping and collecting antiques. She enjoyed all her treasured collections. Most noteworthy were her glass, demitasse cups, silver spoons, and anything “country”.
Mrs. Landrum is survived by her sister, Martha Saxon; her daughter, Rebecca Landrum Weatherly (Gary); daughter-in-law, Sherry Landrum; and grandchildren Jason Landrum (Sheyla), Nathan Landrum (Jessica), and Rob Weatherly (Niki); great grandchildren Madison Landrum, Skyler Landrum, Ethan Landrum, August Lynn Landrum, Emily Anne Weatherly, Mason Piper; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Mississippi Baptist Children’s Village, 114 Marketridge Drive, Ridgeland, MS 39157.
