Wilson "Red" Harris, age 77, of Killingworth passed away on Saturday, December 1st, surrounded by his loving family after a long and hard fought battle with rheumatoid lung disease. Wilson "Red" Harris is at peace. Red was born in Hamden, CT, on May 7th, 1941 to the late Stanton and Gladys Hart Harris. He was the co-owner of The Stone Company, a marble and granite business in Milford, CT, until retiring in 2003. Throughout his life he was very active in volunteer firefighting, including 45 years with the Killingworth Volunteer Fire Company. He had held many positions through the years including Fire Chief, Chief Engineer, and Head Trustee. Red was always ready to help anyone and everyone who needed assistance or advice. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth "Betsy" Anderson Harris, and by his children, Annette Reynolds and her husband Scott, Nancy Mathiason, Ronald Harris and his wife Constance, and Michael Harris and his wife Tricia; grandchildren, Scott Reynolds and his wife Crystal, Megan Reynolds and Dave Gardner, Samantha Reynolds and Anthony Restivo, Jason Mathiason, Tonya Mathiason, Timothy Mathiason, Caleb Harris, and Cadence Harris; great-grandson Trenton Reynolds; brother Richard "Rick" Harris and his wife Lorene, and many relatives across the country. In addition to his parents, Red was predeceased by his brothers Stanton and David Harris and sister Judith Harris Vedder. The family would like to thank his doctors Jennifer Swenson, Catharine Arnold, Erica Herzog, and Lynda Rozenfeld, who took such excellent care of Red throughout the years. A celebration of Red's life will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at the KVFC Headquarters, 333 Rt. 81, Killingworth.
