He was born July 1,1935 in Meriden, CT and was the son of the late Joseph and Julia Bruno. He was a resident of Southington and graduated from Southington High School. He enlisted in the United States Army and is a veteran of the Korean War. After graduating college, Joe worked as industrial engineer and tool designer for many years at several Connecticut companies including facilities manager at Teleco Sonat before retirement.
He is survived by 2 children James Bruno of Conway, SC, and Joseph Bruno of Madison CT. Joe also is survived his partner Brigitte McSpadden, 2 grandchildren Ashley Reynolds of Portland, OR, Nicholas Bruno of Charleston, SC and one great grandchild Sullivan James Bruno. He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Phyllis Bruno.
A graveside service will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Westbrook, CT on Wednesday September 16th at 11am. A celebration of Joe’s life will be announced at a future date beyond the pandemic. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to any of the following: American Cancer Society and Valley Shore Animal Welfare League of Westbrook, CT.
