She was born on June 30, 1942, in Middletown, the daughter of the late William and Mary Alger.
Carolyn was a devoted Daughter, Mother, Grandmother and Sister. She was a fantastic cook and enjoyed creating delicious meals for her family to enjoy, especially on Sunday afternoons. She loved animals and took great joy spending time with her cats Mittens and Sugar and dogs Duchess and Molly who comforted her greatly in her last years. Carolyn was a stay at home Mom in her Children's early years and when they grew older she worked at Silgan Manufacturing as an Inspector in Deep River until her retirement.
Carolyn is survived by her children Robert Martin and his wife Jane of Higganum and Dawn Peterson of Clinton; siblings Joe, Bob, Ron, and Ed Alger, and Gloria Boucher; grandchildren Nicole, Jenna, and Jake Martin, Ashley McDowell, Skylar, Braelynn and Ross Peterson; and great grandchildren Cole and Maverick McDowell.
Carolyn was predeceased by her siblings William, Phillip, and Henry Alger.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 31st from 4-7pm at Swan Funeral Home, 80 E. Main St., Clinton. A graveside service will be held on Saturday April 7th at 1pm at Burr Cemetery, Higganum.
