SUSIE L. BURTON was born September 1, 1939, to the late John and Susie Moses in Shelby, Mississippi. She was the second of six children born from that union. At an early age, Susie gave her life to Christ and became a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. It was there she married the love of her life, Huey Burton, Sr. in 1956.
The couple relocated to Cleveland, Ohio and started a family. Four children were born from this union. Two sons, Huey Burton Jr. aka “Boo” and William L. Burton aka “Bill;” one brother, Henry Johnson; and her husband, Huey Sr. preceded Susie in death.
Susie retired from Cleveland Clinic after more than 25 years of dedicated service as a Dietary Aide.
Susie enjoyed shopping, cooking, dancing, talking about her Jesus, and taking care of family business. She was a member of Second Mt. Olive Baptist Church where she faithfully served the Lord as an usher and choir member. Susie was a prayer warrior. She was loving, compassionate, and would give you the clothes off her back.
Susie leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Jerome and Jeffrey Burton and their spouses; nine grandchildren, Latosha Banks, Jermael Burton, Samikia Burton, Candice Henderson (John), Johnisha Burton, Delethiea Buron-Riveira (John), Jurel Burton (Tiffany), Nadia Burton-Chokshi (Guru), and Nathan Burton; four siblings, Johnie Taylor of Battle Creek, MI, Bobbie Jones of Chicago, IL, Tommie Lee Johnson of Crenshaw, MS, and Ivey Johnson, Jr.; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that loved her and will miss her dearly.
Lovingly submitted,
The Family
