Edward James Alexander

Edward J. Alexander, “Mr. Eddie” was born in Chicago Heights, Illinois on December 18, 1923, to the late Willie Mae & Eddie Lucius Alexander. The family moved to Cleveland, Oh. In 1936. Eddie attended East Technical High School and graduated in 1943.

He met his soul mate, best friend & love of his life, Gussie Lois Harris in 1943. Married on April 26, 1947, to this union was born Ronald (Ron) and Anthony (Tony) Alexander. Eddie’s wife and son, Ron preceded him in death.

Eddie worked for Fisher Body 42 yrs. (1943-1985) where he met his friends and fishing buddies; Lucas, Stokes, Herd, and Riley (all preceded him in death). He loved fishing and was enthusiastic about gardening and frequenting flea markets. He was a true outdoors man; Eddie had a profound sense of humor and extremely loving personality. He was a very diligent man that did whatever it took to provide for his family and all those he cared for. He was a wealth of knowledge. He poured out wisdom. For generations he shared his knowledge and wisdom with hopes of spare for another of what he had already experienced. Always an opportunity to gain knowledge when you sat down to talk with him.

Eddie started a new journey on Saturday, June 17, 2023. Has no fear of where he will go, for the love he gave and shared guaranteed him a place in a heavenly home.

He leaves to mourn his son, Anthony (Tony), five grandchildren: Anthony Alexander Jr., Brandon Alexander (Jerita), Shenise Greenwood (Bishop Randy), Brandy Alexander, Ron Tate (Tia). His sister, Cozetta Wilson; a host of nieces and nephews; many longtime friends who loved and respected him dearly. (Just to name a few): Juanita Jones; Mrs. Stokes; Karen Turpin.

Dad

I know you are in heaven with your beautiful wife and son; tell them I miss them with a hug that is long. Dad thanks for loving, caring and sharing the roundabouts of life, you will never be “forgotten, nor leave from my heart.

A visitation for Edward will be held Friday, June 30, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cummings & Davis Funeral Home, 13201 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44112. A wake will occur Saturday, July 1, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM, 13201 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44112. A funeral service will occur Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 12:00 PM, 13201 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44112. An interment highland park cemetery will occur.
