She was born October 28, 1965, in Chicago, the daughter of Roberto Ortega Flores and Domitila Martinez Flores, whom Dora loved profoundly for all the years of tender loving care she provided.
Dora obtained a bachelor’s degree in social work from Cleveland State University, and an associate’s degree in Psychology from Cuyahoga Community College. She advocated for the underserved through her work at the Spanish American Committee, and the Cleveland Municipal Court, where she worked as a housing court specialist. She was honored with the “Unsung Fair Housing Hero” award. Among her favorite pastimes was watching the Crooked River Roller Girls, where her daughter competes as Holly Pain-Yo. She loved music, especially Latin music ranging from Spanish-language rock to classic mariachi, and hosted a popular radio show at WCSB at Cleveland State University for ten years. She was active in the Latino arts and culture scene of Cleveland, volunteering when needed, and will always be remembered for her abundant spirit, sharp wit and soft heart.
She is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, Scott Froehlich; her daughter, Maria; her brother, Roberto; her mother; her in-laws Thomas, Catherine, Donna and Anita Jane, Paul and Michael; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, and also her beloved extended family, the Jorge and Amalia Corona family, of Cleveland.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roberto, and mother-in-law, Patsy.
In accordance with her wishes, a Memorial Mass in her honor will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2016, at St. Michael Archangel Church, 3114 Scranton Road, Cleveland. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
