He was born in Wayne, West Virginia, the son of the late Carson and Martha (nee Maynard) Adkins. Bruce was the loving partner of Donna Mae Campbell for 27 years; dear brother of Bea (Bob) Pratt, Jerry Adkins, and Richard Adkins and the late Madaline, Pearl, Helen, Evelyn, Ethel, Charles, Johnny, Carson Jr. (Darlene, living); adored uncle of many; step-father of Lee Holstein, Angela Holstein, Shawn Holstein, Teresa Holstein, Jennifer (Phillip) Rodriguez, Jeffrey Holstein and Elliot Holstein; adored grandfather of Gavin and Louisyann Rodriguez.
He served his Country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict at the 38th Parallel and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star by General Eisenhower.
He was the owner/operator of Bruce Painting Co. and Tire Retread Co. He worked for Sealtest Ice Cream for 5 years and retired from the Rivers Smelting Company in 1975 due to a work related accident.
Due to the current restrictions, services for Bruce will be private. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at West Park Cemetery.
