Addie Mae Drake

Addie Mae Drake, 94, passed away Sunday, July 14th, 2024, at Hillside Plaza Nursing Home in Cleveland, Ohio. Addie was born February 18th, 1930, in Shaw, Mississippi. Addie’s mother died at childbirth and was raised by her aunt Minnie Bell Davis.

Addie married the love of her life (deceased) Jimmy Drake in 1950. They move from Mississippi to Cleveland, Ohio to leave all the segregation and racism going on in Mississippi behind.

Addie accepted Christ at an early age and had a close relation with the lord. She kept him close and near to her heart. She worked at the Holiday Inn on Lakeside Avenue downtown Cleveland, Ohio for 35 years until she retired in 2005. During her time at the Holiday Inn, she received numerous awards. Such as, employee of the year and perfect attendance (Addie never took a day off work).

Addie enjoyed cooking and baking. She made the best chocolate, coconut and pound cakes as well as T-cake cookies.

Addie is survived by her four children Lawrence Moore, Barbara Booker, Brenda Reed, Dwight Drake Sr. and one deceased son Jimmy Drake Jr.
