I just found out today that Steve Redpath had died. I am so sorry to hear this. I have wonderful memories from the late 1960s of him and his family. He was a bright light in this world.

With permission from the author, I am posting a memorium which Vickie Redpath wrote for her brother, Steve. It was published in our local news paper on March 23rd, 2012, which was Steve's father's birthday, for the benefit of Steve's friends and family in his home town.
It has been a year since I've spoken to you, Steve, although there have been hundreds of times when I've wanted to. I miss you, Roddy.

Steve,  You will be greatly missed at the Wednesday night Program at Prabhupada Manor in Fairview Park.  Your comments were always inspiring.

We are so sad that we won't be seeing your bright face anymore at our Wednesday programs. You were always so delightful to have. You are a blessed soul Steve and will be sadly, sadly missed. We pray for you and will never forget you. May Krishna guide your way.

My prayers and sympathy goes out to the Redpath Family.

Steve Redpath was a man who I had the good luck of being my uncle.  My appreciation and admiration of him constantly grew as I did as well.  He was one the kindest, loving, most enthusiastic people I've ever known.  The passion he had for everything he did was contagious, and when having a conversation with him, you couldn't help but become as enthuiastic about whatever it was the conversation was about as he was.  Our two biggest common interests were music and science fiction.  When it came to science fiction, I will always fondly remember our discussions about the recent Battlestar Galactica reboot.  I thought it was one of the greatest shows of all time.  Uncle Steve loved it so much that on more than one occasion he stated that congress should pass a law requiring the show to stay on the air after they announced that season 4 would be it's final season.  This always made me smile and laugh.  Earlier this year, I randomly decided I wanted to learn to play mandolin.  At Uncle Steve's request, I learned to play an Irish tune he loved called Sheebeg and Sheemore.  Our plan was to play it together at Thanksgiving.  While his health did not allow him to practice so we could play together, I played the song numerous times for him, which brought a huge smile to his face.  It's a beautiful song that I will continue to play, likely with a tear in my eye due to how meaningful the song has become to me.  Uncle Steve, you were taken from us too soon, and will be greatly missed.

My uncle Steve was a man of insatiable curiosity.  He wanted to understand everything that went on in the world he lived in.  This was amongst other things what made him so unique and special.  Kind of the polar opposite of the boring Shlub who has no interest in or knowledge of what goes on outside of his little town or corner of the world.  As a telecom engineer Steve loved to grill me on how all of this technology worked that was exploding all around us.  We shared other interests in out of the ordinary subjects such as martial arts and eastern philosophy.  I considered him a mentor in these matters.  I was always proud to have in my family and will miss him greatly

Steve was a very dedicated Martial Arts Instructor, I consider myself fortunate to have train with him. He exemplified the three most important aspects of teaching: Care about your students, be an inspirational model, and provide a real world curriculum to survive on the streets. He will be greatly missed!

Steve and I worked together for 9 years and for a man who was never thier to make friends, "just money",  was truly loved by us all. He was always happy, always smiling and I have never heard him complain or get mad about anything! (which is unusual at our job! lol) I love you Steve and you will always be missed.

He was a great and funny man, loved life! We loved him! RIP Steve, because you never liked to be called Mr. Redpath...

We have great memories of block parties and great times with the families on Barrigton Road, we want to send our condolences to Roz, Ali, and Jason at this time. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Says goodbye to a good friend, and mentor. Thank you Steve, for all the encouraging words about parenthood, work, and life in general. My Sunday morning drives to the club will never be the same, knowing that you'll no longer be there to root for me against those pesky flying orange devils, and to provide your words of advice and wisdom about life in general. Vaya con Dios, Amigo. The world will never again be quite as safe for capitalism as it was with you on the watch. I know that my world will never be the same without you here either.

Steve was a great person and he loved life. I am so glad to have had the chance to know him and I will greatly miss him.

I will always remember Steve as a wonderful friend and genuinely amazing person!

Stephen has been my friend since we were in high school in the early 60's. He has complimented me many times by telling me I am his oldest and dearest friend. We shared our interests in music, poetry, politics,target firearms, our Irish heritage, and meditation, all these years. We never ran out of conversation together. We only ran out of time. 
I will miss him in this life. I expect we will be together again in our travels.
