PESKIN Perry K. Peskin beloved husband of Carolyn (nee Newman.) Loving father of Laura Peskin. Dear brother of Dr. Allan (Barbara) Peskin. Devoted uncle to Lawrence and James. Mr. Peskin graduated from Cleveland Heights High School and received his B.A. and M.A. from Western Reserve University. Perry was a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Japan. Mr. Peskin taught at Chardon High School, Nathan Hale Jr. High and for many years at Maple Heights High School. He served as an Audubon bird walk leader at the Shaker Lakes for over 50 years. In 1966 he compiled a list of bird species that is used by the Shaker Lakes Nature Center still today. In the mid seventies his interest turned to native and endangered plants, prompting his extensive travel throughout the world. He served as a volunteer steward for the State of Ohio Department of Natural Resources and was highly regarded for his presentations of endangered species. Beginning in the 1980’s he volunteered for over 20 years in the paleobotany department of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. In 2007 he wrote the “Search for Lost Habitats.” Services will be held Sunday, December 10 at 11 AM at the BERKOWITZ-KUMIN-BOOKATZ MEMORIAL CHAPEL 1985 S. Taylor Rd. Cleveland Heights, OH. Interment Mayfield Cemetery. Family will receive friends at The Temple-Tifereth Israel 26000 Shaker Blvd. Beachwood, OH SUNDAY 12:30 pm- 3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may contribute to the Cleveland Museum of Natural History or the Judson Foundation 2181 Ambleside Dr. Cleveland, OH 44106.
