Marc spent much of his career at Johns Hopkins. What follows are comments from those who knew him.

I know many people do not know him, while many others in the Department do remember Marc Feldman. Marc was Wilmer Anesthesia Chief for several years before I came to Hopkins and he has been Chief of Anesthesia at the Cole Eye Institute at the Cleveland Clinic for 15 years. I have been enjoying his company at our annual OAS meetings and admired his intellect, clinical prowess, and unique form of humor. He most recently ran for US President during the Libertarian party primaries. 

Marc passed today from an apparent heart attack. Our heart and thoughts go out to his family.

Please also convey my sincere condolences to his family. They have suffered so much over the past few years. As everyone else has noted, Marc was a wonderful colleague whose very presence would brighten up the day. I last saw him 1-2 years ago quite by chance when I visited Hopkins and he was with his son in the PICU.  Even then, in the face of such pain and suffering as any parent would feel, Marc was somehow able to smile. He was a remarkable man.

I am very sorry to hear this sad news. I remember well when Marc came to ACCM.  He was a bright, funny person.  And, he even spent enough time in the lab with me and published several manuscripts, believe it or not, concerning pituitary blood flow and its regulation by arterial chemoreceptors.  Then came along ophthalmologic anesthesia at Wilmer, where he made something great from nothing.

Very sad and surprising indeed.
Mark and I shared a common interest in the History of Anesthesia and he was the Curator for the ASA's  Wood-Library Museum of Anesthesiology travelling to exotic places to find old copper kettles and syringes and needles!
I remember that for a long time he would be one of the few attendings teaching closed-circuit anesthesia to the residents.
Will miss his good sense of humor and spirit for life.

I am absolutely stunnedMarc was one of the very first residents and chief residents of our department when it was reborn during the 
Roger's era.  As the head of the Wilmer section he was transformativewhen he left to go to Cleveland he followed a very long line of our graduates and colleagues who used the skills he developed here to blaze a trail at other nationally and internationally ranked programs .Many of us reconnected with Mark during his son's long battle for life in our PICU a couple of years ago.  Is there an address or charity to send thoughts or remembrances?

Ed Miller wrote:I knew Marc in a special way.  As you know he had a child with multiple problems. Shortly after the child was born my wife and I told him that if he and his wife needed to get out for a night we would baby sit    He took his up on the offer and we went to the house and cared for the child with all the pumps etc. Over the years he always thanked us for this. 
When the Cleveland Clinic came along I encouraged him to take the job. He needed a change

Marc was so excited about everything in life.  He was a brilliant anesthesiologist and a friend to all.  He was an inventor and a man with amazing ideas.  He was a kind man who was loved by his colleagues at the Cleveland Clinic.  He will be greatly missed.

The man had an infectious up-beat attitude. The world needs more Marc Feldmans, not fewer. My deepest condolences to the family.

I worked with Marc for many years at John Hopkins and the wonderful times we had there, I will forever cherish. Prayers to his family

I will  always  miss your  sense of humor rest in peace

Dr. Feldman was a force of nature and a unifier in the Libertarian Party.  His passion and fervor invoked passion in everyone who ever met him or heard him speak.  We will do our best to carry the torch for him and see his vision through, but he is irreplaceable and that void can't ever be filled.  My condolences to his family and friends.  He will forever be loved and we won't ever ever forget him or lose sight of the impact he made.

I personally have great memories of Dr. Feldman as a resident at the Cleveland Clinic. He taught us all to do blocks for eye procedures. He will be missed. Prayers.

I enjoyed hearing Dr. Feldman speak. His personality seemed to brighten the room everywhere he went. I am sure loved ones would have wanted more time to spend with him, butwe must recognize that he was fortunate to be on this earth and was given the time to make his impact.

I am a nurse at the Cole eye. I worked with dr Feldman for many years. I enjoyed working with him . He had  a great sense of humor.  The patients really like him.  Gone to early. I will miss you.

Blessed with a brilliant mind and a beautiful soul, Marc will be greatly missed. A true "mensch", he encouraged people to focus on what all individuals share rather than what divides.  Marc modeled fierce faith and a passion for living with purpose and meaning. May his memory be for a blessing and inspire those whose lives he touched to continue his mission of increasing harmony, respect and liberty. My thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones at this difficult time.

A shining light in the Libertarian Party put out all too soon. My prayers, thoughts and condolences go to the Feldman family. May his #VotesNotForSale initiative continue onward...

I'm that forever remembered libertarian...

A giant in the Libertarian Party. He will be missed greatly.As a fellow physician, I know he touched many patients, even giving help to someone in trouble at the Libertarian Convention last month.

My heart goes out to this family. Marc will be missed greatly. I am so sadden by this news.

What a wonderful man who appealed to so many different people. Such a good good man.

My condolences to the family of this lovely man.  He was beloved.  He touched so many lives in so many ways.  Thank you for allowing all of us crazy Libertarians to demand so much of his time and energy. May you find peace and comfort in your time of mourning.
