Lou was born on September 14, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio. His mother Elsie raised Lou as a single mother. From selling hotdogs at 7 years old to putting himself through night school to earn a bachelor’s degree as a Professional Engineer at Cleveland State University, he was a self-made individual. In his early years he also was a resident of Bellefaire where he met many of his lifelong friends. At Heights High School he was both a football hero and member of the choir. During his 30-year career at Morrison-Knudsen, he worked on many exciting infrastructure projects that allowed him to travel all over the US and the world. Among his accomplishments was the development of one of the first 3D CAD packages used to route piping for major projects such as refineries, waste-water treatment plants, and mega-breweries like Busch. He was an engineering manager when he retired at the age of 62.
He also had a very artistic side. Lou’s Art Glass was the business he ran for 20 years, selling his glass creations to an ever-growing and loyal following. In recent months, he taught himself to paint beautiful and colorful geometric paintings that are displayed throughout his family’s homes. Lou was the rock, hero, and confidant to his whole family.
He freely gave of his time and knowledge . His charitability was expressed in his involvement with The Knights of Pythias. In remembrance of his generous spirit, please consider a donation in his honor to a worthy charity of your choice.
