Mr. Berman was a graduate of Glenville High School, Cleveland, Ohio, as well as The Ohio State University, where he majored in Medical Illustration. Subsequently, he was recruited into ROTC and ultimately the Air Force where he attained the rank of Captain. Jerry met the love of his life Anne Krasny while attending a party for AZA in high school. They continued their relationship through college at Ohio State and OSU. Soon after they married and began the life of an Air Force couple traveling to many cities with his newborn son, Ken, in tow.
Jerry loved flying and owned a twin engine plane where he would take the whole family on trips such as to Minnesota to see cousins or to Canada to take his son to camp. With his love of aerodynamics he decided to take up sailing and owned several boats "Top Seed" and "Avalanche" which he and Anne sailed and raced out of Lakeside Yacht Club in Cleveland. After the military, Jerry had several businesses including Federal Homes, Four Seasons Racquet Club, and Honey Girl Snack Foods. With Anne working by his side, they enjoyed many friends in business as well as at the yacht club. Their children, Ken Berman and Karen (Daniel) Hellerstein thrived with their ever present love and devotion.
A tried and true optimist, Jerry was always seeing the sunny side and offering up best case scenarios, especially with his passion for the Cleveland Browns (never missed watching a game) and the Buckeyes. Jerry was a man of integrity with upstanding dedication and love for his family.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Myron and Florence (Ratner) Berman, as well as his wife Anne Krasny. Jerry will be truly and deeply missed by his devoted daughter Karen (Daniel) Hellerstein; loving son Ken Berman; adored grandchildren, Leah Hellerstein (Stuart Sacks), Joshua Hellerstein, Leslie Berman, Alison Berman, and Jeffrey Berman; dear brother of Buzzy (Hindy) Berman; many cousins and extended family.
