Jerome John Morris II

Jerome John Morris II, of Bermuda Run, NC passed away peacefully at home on December 13, 2020. Jerome was born November 2, 1952 to Katherine Robinson and Jerome John Morris in Chicago, IL. He was baptized at Saint Stephen AME Church in Chicago Illinois. Jerome graduated from Crane High School in Chicago in 1971. He graduated from Livingstone College in 1975. With a basketball scholarship, Jerome majored in History and Secondary Education, grades 7-12. He was the only senior on the basketball team to graduate in his class. He began his teaching career at Erwin Junior High in Salisbury, NC. He coached several middle school basketball teams to championship wins at Salisbury Junior High where he was the boys and girls basketball coach. He taught at Barber Scotia College where he was also the Assistant Basketball

Coach as well as the Living/Learning Coordinator. He taught at Catawba County and Catawba Middle Schools. There he was the girls basketball coach and won several championships. In the WS/FCS System, he workedat Independence High School where he taught Economics, History, and Political Science. He taught 7th and 8th grade Social Studies at Wiley Middle School where he also coached the boys basketball team to four Championships. Jerome was teacher of the year in both Catawba County and WS/FCS. He retired after 34 years of teaching and coaching. He was a dedicated KAPPA ALPHA PSI Fraternity Brother. Jerome is preceded in death by Katherine Robinson Smith, David, Terry, and Harlan Morris, and M.C. Smith. He leaves behind his wife, Cynthia Morris, Jerome John Morris III, Jason Gilbert Morris, Justin Barnes (Christine), Jenny Wright (George), and Miller Barnes, and Sebastian and Stafford Wright. Also his brother, Paul Morris (Carolyn), Jessica Morris, Charles Morris, Jeffrey Morris, Greg Robinson, James Smith, and Juanita Jackson. He also leaves to mourn William Robinson and many neices and nephews, as well as a host of relatives and friends. Jerome made a tremendous difference in the lives of the students he taught. He was loved by his family and the many friends and people he met. He will be missed beyond words and we are blessed to have had him in our lives. May you rest in peace, my love. A private memorial service will take place at a future date.
