She was born on January 28, 1948, in Iredell County, NC, to the late Fleet Alexander and Lois Miller Alexander (Branton), and she was also preceded in death by her stepfather James Branton and her stepbrother Gary Branton.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 56 years, Robert Hoke, and their two children Jonathan Hoke (Terri) of Advance, NC, and Jennifer Hoke Harrell (Mark) of Roswell, GA, and five grandchildren Spencer, Ben, and Laurin Hoke and Jackson and Maggie Harrell. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and enjoyed their activities.
Jane was a graduate of Appalachian State University. She was a National Board-Certified high school science teacher at Forbush High School and later at North Forsyth High School. She was a teacher every day of her life even teaching her numerous caregivers how to cook and bake and garden. She enjoyed teaching, sewing, gardening, birds, hiking, the outdoors, Boone and Blowing Rock, and spending time with her family.
The family would like to thank neighbors and friends, Jane’s caregivers and nurses, Trellis Hospice, and Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House.
Jane’s Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 1:00PM in the Chapel at Frank Vogler & Sons, 2849 Middlebrook Drive, Clemmons, NC 27012. The family will receive visitors following the service in the Chapel.
While Jane did love flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House in Winston-Salem, NC, or the Defeat MSA Alliance in Michigan. Both have online donation platforms.
