Dewey Odell Smith Sr.

Dewey Odell Smith, Sr. passed away on March 10, 2022. He was born on June 6, 1931 in Davie County to the late Rufus Edgar and Stella Faircloth Smith. Dewey was a hardworking man. He was a self-employed bricklayer until retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Dewey was an honest and kind family man. His most cherished time was spent with his grandkids and great grandkids.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Daniel Gray, Dallas “Buck” Smith, and Dorothy Walker. He leaves behind his wife of 70 years, Jo Ann Johnson Smith; children, Dewey Odell Smith, Jr. (Linda) and Avesta Everhart (Bobby); grandchildren, Sunny Nelson (Marc), Nikki Hurst, Mason Smith (LaRae), Joshua Smith (Katie), and Bobby Everhart, II (Vicki); great grandchildren, Taylor Hurst (Chelsea), Donovan Smith, Logan Eastman, Liam Smith, Lucy Nelson, John Smith, Charli Hall, Emerie Everhart, Jaxon Everhart, Jagger Everhart, Paxton Proctor, and Phin Proctor; sister, Dora Lee Wright; and many nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 14th at 2pm at Westlawn Gardens of Memory with Pastor Paul Stewart officiating.
