It doesn’t seem like a year since we lost David.     I think of him every day he is in my prayers.      David was a person that you couldn’t forget after you met him.    My condolences for David’s family, especially his daughter and my goddaughter Maura.




I can say David was a true friend. We had mutual interests in guns and hunting. He helped my in many ways as a true friend would. We would meet at shows and would talk on the phone when ever possible. I'm sorry to say now not often enough. He was always helpful, thoughtful and there when needed. David was a good man. I will miss him greatly.

Gone but never forgotten-I will miss you my friend. 

I knew David Powell for more than forty years.  From a distance, our relationship seemed to orbit around guns and hunting, where it began, but the truth is, it was a rare friendship built on regard and affection.  Dave was quick with a friendly greeting and an outstretched hand, and I enjoyed watching him.  His enjoyment of people was genuine and sincere, and it was woven through his personal and business dealings.  It was a big part of his success in that latter pursuit.
Dave loved jokes, especially practical ones,  but he pulled them off in a way that left everyone - even the target, which many times over was me - enjoying the moment, because there was never a meanness in it.  Most of our shared jokes aren’t suitable for sharing, but there is one that passes the cleanliness test.  Thirty years ago in west Texas, Dave and I were deer hunting.  I was desperate to bag a good west Texas deer, something I had yet to do.  Dave was his usual, relaxed, “I don’t really care” self, so of course I got skunked and he shot a ten-point buck while strolling back to the truck.  That was it.  His good luck without appearing to have even been trying, combined with my frustration, took me over the edge.  That’s it, I said.  I’m done hunting.  I’m going to sell my guns, every darned one of them.  Dave sat down beside me, put his hand on my knee, looked me in the eye, and said, “Are you selling them wholesale?”
I’m old enough now to appreciate how few are the friends like Dave Powell.  He leaves a hole in my heart.

We are so sorry to hear about the passing of WD Powell.  We always had such a good time together the 4 of us, going to Country concerts, cruises & eating out.  
David could always keep us laughing.....especially when he was feeling jolly!  
Whether it was in the limo or backing his Dad's car up at the Gaylord Palms parking lot.  David was a very big fan of Debbie & Dan having Sambuca! Lol  
Being the good husband that he was, trying to pull Debbie's suitcase from the cruise ship in Ft. Lauderdale, poor David dropped the suitecase and there went all of Debbie's glassware that she earned on the cruise ship.    We could go on and on about all the great times that we all shared over all the years.   We will miss you terribly WD, we love you,   Vicki & Dan  

Sending our deepest sympathy to you, Deb, and David’s family.
I grew up with David and my parents were dear friends of his.  We graduated together and shared many fun times in our church’s youth activities. David’s personality was fun-loving and he  was easily loved by all who knew him. I was delighted to see him and chat again at our 50 yr. Class reunion as we had lost contact through the years.
God bless you as you remember this fine man, and we know through our faith, we’ll meet again.

My condolences and prayers go out to the Powell family.    I met David in 1970, he was friends with my husband at the time.  He got him into the stock broker business and they worked together for many years.    We spent many a weekend on his boat at Fairview Beach.    When I got married in 1972 he was my husband’s best man.  The picture was with my sister Justine who he walked down the aisle.     David was funny great personality generally a very nice person.    He had the gift of making people 
laugh.       

He was bigger than life a person you could never forget and someone you will always remember.

I am so sorry to hear about David's passing.  My heart grieves for you.
The last time I spoke with Dave was shortly after Ronnie had passed away.  Our chat was like when we were growing up together in Marion, VA as cousins ... my sister Betty, Ronnie, Dave and me.
 He was always so funny, happy and just an all-round good guy.

He was the Kindest Patriarch  for his family and the dearest friend for his friends.Unfortunately I cant have the honor and privilege   of attending his funeral due to health reason.

Deb and family, I am so so sorry for your loss. I met David and Deb at DeRand Corp. It was my first job and I was petrified. I was an accountant, not very familiar with bond trading. David was so kind and funny that a good working relationship and friendship began. This was almost 40 years ago. I ended up renting a room in their house for a time and I have such fond memories. There was always a lot of laughter. This world lost a wonderful man.

Debbie, your love for your David is so beautifully expressed.  The last times I saw David were at East Lake Community Library. He enjoyed listening to audiobooks during his travels, and catching me up on the latest happenings with your family. And my Dave was part of a late night alligator flashlight spotting escapade with your Dave and a boatload of friends after a party years ago. ❤️❤️

David was a fantastic source of information, but most of all he was my friend. I know that affable and kind personality led legions of others to say the same. Seeing him at big gun shows was a highlight of my attendance and they’ll never be the same. Deb, Hunter and the entire Powell family, I’ve been thinking of you often and sending you all up in my prayers.
