Susan Hostetler Humphreys, 77, of Dunedin, Florida, passed away at home on Sunday, January 28th, 2024. Born in Dayton, Ohio to Robert E. and Betty J. Hostetler on January 18th, 1947, she was raised in Clearwater, Florida when her family moved there in 1952. She was a graduate of Clearwater High School (1965) where she was active in the Choral Ensemble, and the University of Florida (1969).
Sue loved nature, and preferred camping at State and National parks, to hotels and leisure trips. From coast to coast across the States, as well as the Galapagos Islands and an African Safari, she was an enthusiastic nature traveler.
At home she served her community on the board of Leadership Pinellas, and most recently with Friends of The Hammock Park in Dunedin. Her passion for politics led her to two runs for statewide office, and though she never made it to Tallahassee, her impact was lasting.
A schoolteacher for a short time, she turned to Real Estate in the 1980’s. She built a successful career which culminated in her 2021 retirement as the Broker-Owner of Professional Real Estate Management, co-founded by her in 2001. Her expertise, experience and knowledge were respected by her professional peers across Pinellas County, and clients both across the United States and internationally.
Sue is survived by former husband Bill Humphreys and their two sons - Glenn and his wife Robyn Humphreys of Tarpon Springs, Florida, and Todd Humphreys of Clearwater, Florida, her sister Meri-Jo Gibson and her brother Damon Smith Hostetler of Clearwater, Florida, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and her faithful Brittney Spaniel, Myakka.
A Celebration of Life for Susan will be held Sunday, February 4, 2024 10:00a.m. at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 2853 SUNSET POINT RD, CLEARWATER, FL 33759.
