He was born in White Springs FL on May 23, 1938. Born to Franklin C. Taylor and Mary Pharma Taylor Kinchen and adopted son to J.W. and Ruby Shaw. Robert graduated from White Spring High School, was part of the inaugural class at the University of South Florida and later received his Master’s Degree from the University of Florida. Robert was married for 50 years to his wife Lynda J. Taylor. They were married on June 16, 1973. He was schoolteacher in Florida for over 35 years teaching at Bartow Senior High and Gause Academy where he was Dean of Students prior to retiring. Robert had a love of the outdoors, always fishing, hunting, and canoeing. However, his greatest love was his family and spending time with his two granddaughters was his favorite past time.
Robert is survived by his wife Lynda Taylor, son Brandon Taylor and wife Cheri, granddaughters Annaleigh and Ashlynn Taylor, sister Linda Alonso (Juan), brother Lloyd Kinchen (Peggy), and sister Cheryl Skipper (Donnie).
He was preceded in death by his brother James Shaw (Carolyn), brother Michael Kinchen, brother Benny Kinchen, and sister Lena White.
A visitation for Robert will be held Monday, February 5, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 2853 SUNSET POINT RD, CLEARWATER, FL 33759. A funeral service will occur Monday, February 5, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 2853 SUNSET POINT RD, CLEARWATER, FL 33759. A committal service will occur Monday, February 5, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, 2860 SUNSET POINT RD, CLEARWATER, FL 33759.
