Philip “Coach” Walker, 72, formerly of West Winfield, NY, passed away July 25, 2015 with his family by his side. Mr. Walker was born March 22, 1943 in Pittsfield, MA to Eugene and Margaret (Casey) Walker. He attended New Lebanon High School in Canaan, NY where he developed an immense talent and love for the game of baseball. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies but was unable to follow a professional career due to injury. He continued his education at State University of New York at Cortland where he received his Master’s in Education. He was a beloved teacher and coach at Mount Markham High School for 33 years. He was passionate for all sports alike, reading, and the Civil War. In retirement, he especially enjoyed time spent with family and friends, golfing, and could always be found with a good book in his hand. He is survived by his three children; Mary Francis of Oglesby, IL, Carrie Carpanzano (Dominic) of Clearwater, Fl, and Steven Walker (April) of Ballston Spa, NY; 6 grandchildren: Sonia, Samantha, Rocco, Stella, Gianna-Marie, and Savannah; and lifelong friend Susanne Walker of Largo, Fl. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, sister (Judith Wear) and brother (Eugene Walker Jr.) Services will be held at Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home in West Winfield, NY on August 7, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. followed by an intimate burial on August 8, 2015.
