MURRAY, Nancy C. 83, of Clearwater, passed away peacefully Friday, Dec. 21, 2016. She was born June 30, 1933 in Baltimore, Ma, to Wiley and Mildred Corbett. Nancy moved with her family to Tampa, in 1945. She married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life Raymond E. Murray on September 21, 1951. Nancy lovingly dedicated herself to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was appropriately and affectionately known as “Sugar”. She partnered with Ray throughout their lives in countless philanthropic efforts locally and worldwide. Nancy was known for her grace, her loving and giving spirit, and exceptional culinary flair; which produced the absolutely best apple pie (baked in a brown grocery bag)!!! With her husband she faithfully supported numerous missionaries throughout their marriage. Nancy expressed her passion for the arts and the needs of children in the community by involving herself financially and actively in the Florida Orchestra, the Pinellas Youth Symphony, Ruth Eckerd Hall, Abe Brown's prison ministry, Family First, the Florida Holocaust Museum, domestic violence programs, youth addiction programs, and many other efforts. Nancy was preceded to heaven by her husband Ray on December 7, 2014, and is survived by her sister, Ella Mae Melms; son, Michael (Joy) of Tampa; son, Steve (Susan) of Tampa; and daughter, Terri Pereira (Ken) of Safety Harbor; as well as grandchildren, Stephany Murphy (Jeff), Raymond Pereira, Shannon Vinueza (Jose), Ryan Murray (Shannon), Lindsay Peragine (Dan), Reed Murray, and Taylor Murray; and great-grandchildren, Dylan, Jude, Remy, Tessa, Haley, Savannah, and Ryder. A private graveside service for immediate family will be held. A memorial service for friends and family will be held on December 29th, 2016, at The Murray Theater at Ruth Eckerd Hall; 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, remembrance donations may be made to Family First and the Abe Brown Ministries.
