Mary was born in South Carolina on April 5, 1932 to the union of Mattie (Powell) Dennis and Joseph Dennis Sr.
Mary received her education in the Public School System in Clearwater, Florida. She attended Curtis Elementary School and graduated from Pinellas High School in 1951.
Mary was united in holy matrimony to Jesse Stephens and from their union a daughter, Darlene Stephens was born.
Mary worked as CNA Nurse, however, she went on to work at Square D. Later Mary worked at Paradyne until she retired. After retiring from Paradyne, Mary worked part-time in the public school system as a lunchroom assistant.
Mary professed Christ at an early age and began her spiritual life as a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church located in Clearwater, Florida, which she was a choir member and was very passionate about singing in the choir.
Mary enjoyed sewing and had a love for helping family members and friends in need.
She is survived by a grandson, Shegun Nichols; great granddaughters, Bailey Nichols and Riley Nichols; sisters, Pearl (Dennis) Marchman and Emma Dennis; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Darlene Stephens; Mary’s parents, Mattie Dennis and Joseph Dennis Sr.; sisters; Josephine (Dennis) Johnson, Alice Dennis and brother, Joseph Dennis Jr.
