Mary Ann Hartmann, 81, of Tarpon Springs, FL, passed away October 27, 2014. Mary Ann, daughter of Peter and Katherine Yarema, was preceded in death by her loving husband Martin F. Hartmann in 2009. She is survived by her son Martin Michael Hartmann who was by her side at her passing. MaryAnn is also survived by her Sister Irene Gray, Aunts Olga Herman and Eleanor Miller, Uncle Joe and Aunt Shirley Proch, Uncle Bill and Aunt Bonnie Proch and Aunt Jean Proch all of New Castle, PA. She also leaves behind her niece Mary Kay Sogge of Vacaville, CA and many wonderful life-time friends and co-workers. Mary Ann was born in 1933 and graduated from Shenango High School in New Castle, PA in 1952. She graduated as RN from the Jameson Hospital school of nursing in 1954 and married Marty in 1955. A short time later, Mary Ann and Marty moved to Florida where she continued her education earning her master’s in education at USF. Marty “Mike”, their only child, was born in 1966 and the family traveled every year back to New Castle to attend the Proch family reunions. Mary Ann spent her career in Pinellas County Schools at Dunedin Middle and Tarpon Springs Elementary as an administrator until her retirement in 1996. She was an avid reader, devoted to recognizing veterans, protecting the environment and actively involved in local community organizations. She was a member of the Clearwater and Tarpon Springs Garden Clubs and St. Matthias Lutheran Church and volunteered at the Francis Wilson Playhouse. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Services will be held Sunday, November 2nd at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home in Clearwater. Visiting hours will be held 2 – 3 p.m. with service immediately following.
