Julia Alvarez

Julie Alvarez was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all. Her recent battle with an illness showed her unwavering faith and courage during hard times. She passed away on January 9th 2024 at the age of 77.

Julie was born in New York City and met her best friend and husband of 54 years, John, in Elementary school. They went on to have two beautiful girls who blessed them with four grandchildren. Julie graduated from St. John’s University with a degree in Education and went on to teach for 30 years. Julie’s pride was in her students and family, whom she shared her passion for learning and caring for others. She spent her free time volunteering for the Catholic Church, dancing in the living room, and making everybody else’s life a little easier and brighter. Her kind and gentle spirit lives on.

Julie is survived by her husband John, daughters Jessemyn (Vincent) Giovenco, Jaqueline (Jeff) Petersen and grandchildren Michael, Olivia, Sari and Mya.

There will be a funeral mass held for Julie at 10:30 am at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church, 2405 Philippe Pkwy, Safety Harbor, FL 34695 and a graveside to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society.
