Joe was a truck driver for more than 30 years hauling fuel, asphalt, pool chemicals, and other materials for companies such as Brenntag Mid-South, APC, and Aycock Oil. He was also a bus driver in Atlanta, for a minor league baseball team, and for C&H Bus Lines. In between his days driving, he repaired and serviced vehicles at Rudy’s Auto Repair.
He loved God, his family, his dogs (Unfortunately, he lost his beloved Penelope “Penny” a few years ago) and the DAWGS. He could certainly needle you, but he also had a big heart – helping people that others wouldn’t and feeding the birds – and the squirrels, too. He often rooted for the underdog. He enjoyed watching golf, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and westerns; riding his electric trike in the park; playing solitaire; and solving the daily crossword puzzle.
Born in Jacksonville, FL, he lived in Savannah, GA, for 20 years. In the late 90s, he took a leap of faith and moved to Montana, one of his favorite places to visit. Life led him back to the East Coast and Clearwater, FL, the home of his wife’s family.
He was a former member of the Savannah Moose Lodge #1550, an usher at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, and he loved to tinker with anything electronic or mechanical.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joanne, his daughters, Anne Marie Cordeiro (Rafe Semmes) and Anne Michelle Gilbert (Mark), his brother, Clarence Corderio, his sister, Juliette Johnson, his grandsons, Christopher and Colin Munn, several nieces and nephews, and his fur babies, Amanda, Jax, and Snoopy.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests donations to Hope Villages of America – Food Bank (700 Druid Rd., Clearwater, Florida 33756) or your favorite charity.
