He worked and retired from Winn Dixie after 33 years and 6 years for C&C Dental Lab. He was also a Ham Radio Operator – call letters WD4HRP – and spoke around the world. He was also an avid fisherman.
His lifelong wish was achieved when he got his High School GED at age 55.
He is survived by Mary, his loving wife of 45 years; children, Linda Rae Williams of Clearwater, FL; Alyce Williams of Groves, TX; Thomas (Stephanie) Williams of Independence, VA; Timothy (Beth) Williams of Glenville, NY; stepchildren he raised as his own, Cathy (Todd) Longfellow of Union City, IN and James (Betty) Hoggatt of Pocahontas, AR; brother, Joseph (Carol) of Longwood, FL; in-law siblings Bill (Karol) Taylor of Fountain City, IN; Betty (Dick) Shreves of Muncie, IN; Sue (Tom) Peach of Largo, FL; Evelyn Hendricks of Richmond, IN; grandchildren, Jonathan, Matthew, Laura, Julia, Aaron, Shannon and Noah; 5 great grandchildren; countless nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children, Linda S. Williams of Clearwater, FL.
The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Jack Carter, will be held at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home at 2pm on Thursday, August 21, 2014 with visitation one hour prior. Entombment will follow the service at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul UMC or your local SPCA. Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
