James Thomas Jackson, 92, of Clearwater Florida passed away June 3, 2024. Jim was born in Clintonville, Wisconsin on September 25, 1931 to George and May Geise Jackson. Growing up in Ashland Wisconsin, he enlisted in the Army at age 17 where he served in Japan during the Korean War. Upon his discharge, he married his beloved Sheila Douglass on September 6, 1952.
Jim graduated from Northland College in Ashland with an English degree. He went on to complete seminary studies at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. Jim was an ordained minister in the Methodist Church. With a growing family, he was pastor in the towns of Odanah, Muscoda, and Avoca Wisconsin; as well as Atwood, Findley, St. Mary, and Niantic Illinois. Eventually settling in Decatur, Illinois, Jim started a career as a quality engineer at Firestone, retiring after 32 years. Jim and Sheila were active members of Grace United Methodist Church in Decatur, Illinois for 36 years.
After retiring, Jim and Sheila moved to Clearwater Florida in 2004 where they were active members of Sylvan Abbey United Methodist Church. There Jim enjoyed prayer group and the United Methodist Men.
Jim is survived by his children, Barbara (Howard) Pocius, Jayne (Ray) Goodman, and Tim (Donna) Jackson. Also remembering Jim are: Daughter in law Dorothy (Tom) Jackson, grandsons Andrew (Alaina) Pocius, Robert Craig (Kayla) Goodman, Matt Jackson, Philip Pocius; great-grandson Mick Douglass Weber,
Sister-in-law Zoe Ann Koshir, sister Carol Dillingham, Brothers George Jackson Jr. and Robert (Kathy) Jackson and many beloved Nieces and Nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Sheila Douglass Jackson, and his son Thomas James Jackson. Also, sisters: Dorothy Kemmer and Joan Emerson, brothers: Edwin Jackson, Donald Jackson, Richard Jackson and David Jackson.
Jim will be remembered by his family and friends as a devoted father, loving and caring grandfather and great grandfather, loving husband, and spirited Methodist pastor.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
