Jacob Arden Reisinger

Jacob Arden Reisinger was born August 25th, 1940, at the Reisinger family farmhouse in Elliottsburg, Perry County, Pennsylvania. He was the youngest of nine siblings, five brothers and four sisters. Jake passed peacefully at Regency Oaks Care Center in Clearwater, Florida, November 9th, 2024.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Lutheran Church of the Palms at 2250 Nebraska Ave., Palm Harbor, Florida, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 23rd.

Jake was an Air Force veteran serving from 1958 to 1962 as a Morse Code Intercept Technician stationed primarily in Japan. After returning from service, Jake attended Harrisburg Area Community College where he co-founded a chapter of Xi Gamma Iota (XGI), a fraternity dedicated to veterans. He then graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business as the first person in his family to graduate from University. He was a proud Nittany Lion who rarely missed a game or match.

Jake married Carol Elizabeth Pike in Ickesburg, Pennsylvania on October 12th, 1963. They remained married until his passing. While attending college on the GI bill, Jake began his career for Purina Mills where he would stay until his retirement in 2005.

Jake served Purina Mills starting in the warehouse and feed plant in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania then holding many positions in sales and finance, settling into regional general management as a Director of Operations. Throughout his career, he and his family moved ten times through eight states, finally landing back home in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, before retiring.

Jake was active in the communities where he lived. He coached his son's soccer team, served on homeowner’s boards, on positions at his church, and, after retiring, volunteered advising young entrepreneurs in their efforts to start new businesses (SCORE).

Jake was a lifelong athlete and competitor. He played several sports in high school including basketball, baseball and soccer, as well as running track and field. In the Air Force, he boxed and spent time playing softball, billiards and ping pong, bringing home several trophies. As an adult, he continued in competitive softball, basketball, racquetball and tennis, jogged daily late into life, and, just a few years before passing, played his last round of 18 holes of golf, shooting a score of 79.

Jake is survived by his wife of over 61 years, Carol Elizabeth Pike Reisinger and two sons, Richard Arthur Reisinger, age 60, and Jason Scott Reisinger, age 55 as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be remembered fondly by family and friends for his kindness, insightful mentorship, big smile, good humor, and warm laugh.
