Chris is survived by his beloved daughter, Taylor Nicole Douthitt, who was his pride and his joy as well as his former wife and true friend, Amy Douthitt. He is also survived by his siblings Kim (Don) and Gary (Cheryl). Chris was preceded in death by his parents, David and Virginia Douthitt.
Chris's life was one filled with passion and adventure. As a decorated professional motocross racer, he thrived on the thrill of competition and the adrenaline rush of speed. His love for motorcycles and fast things extended beyond the racetrack, as he also enjoyed nearly every type of vehicle racing you can imagine, fishing, boating, water skiing, snow skiing, and hunting. Chris was a licensed boat captain and certified master scuba diver; he approached each of these activities with boundless enthusiasm and a zest for life that was infectious to all who knew him.
In addition to his pursuits in the great outdoors, Chris was a respected figure in the construction community. For 45 years, he led his company, Chris Douthitt Inc Carpentry Services, with integrity and skill. His dedication to craftsmanship and his commitment to excellence left a lasting mark on countless homes and businesses throughout the region. His legacy of hard work and quality craftsmanship will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Chris will be remembered for his generous spirit and his deep love for his friends. He cherished the memories shared with those closest to him and was always eager to create new ones. As a member of the The Mad Dogs, JK Timber, and Ye Mystic Krewe of Neptune, Chris forged lifelong friendships and found joy in the camaraderie of his fellows. The bonds he formed within his friend groups were a testament to his warmth, humor, and genuine kindness.
Chris Rodney Douthitt will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of passion, perseverance, and generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
A celebration of Chris's life will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 4:30 PM at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Rd, Clearwater, Florida 33759, followed by a celebration of life service at 5:00 PM.
