Dr. Andrew (Andy) D. Hagan, 88, was born on December 3rd, 1925 in Sylacauga, Alabama. He slipped into God’s loving arms with his family at his side on Thursday, July 24th, 2014. After graduating from Tulane University he went to serve in WWII in the south Pacific. He was a sergeant in the 7th infantry and fought in the Philippines, Okinawa, and Korea. He received two purple hearts and 3 bronze stars during his two years tour of duty. At the end of WWII he attended and graduated from the University of Alabama and received two Masters in Zoology and in Entomology. He then entered Medical School at the University of Alabama Birmingham, during which time he met Jean Crowe and they were married in 1950 at the First United Methodist Church in Clearwater, FL. He graduated from UAB medical school in 1954.
In 1954 he started General Practice for 2 years in Clearwater, FL. He then specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology and practiced for 38 years in Clearwater, retiring in 1992.
He is preceded in death by his wife Jean Hagan (married 61 years). He is survived by three children, James Hagan, David Hagan, and Karen Moench, five grandchildren David Hagan Jr., Mark Hagan, Alexandra Hagan, Michael Andrew Moench, Amanda Moench, and three great-grandchildren Lily Hagan, Grace Hagan, and Drew Hagan.
He was and avid sportsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and outdoor life.
A memorial service will be held Friday, August 1st at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church in Clearwater. Visitation will be held at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home Friday August 1st from 6 to 9 pm. Graveside services will be held at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park Saturday, August 2nd at 11:00 am.
