Andrew “Drew” Joseph Finan III, 82 of Largo, Florida, passed away peacefully on Oct 9, 2024. Drew was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to parents, Andrew “Andy” Joseph Finan II and Marie Francis Gill on Oct 11, 1941. He spent his early life as an avid Philly sports fan and always enjoyed returning to the area, especially the Jersey shore.
His career was spent in the cement industry and he was involved in building many of the structures in the Tampa Bay area over the years. He dedicated time to giving back to the community with a focus on helping others. He was a longtime member of AA and a sponsor to many other members over the years. Drew was also instrumental in starting programs for youth against drugs and alcohol in our community. Additionally, he spent time volunteering for Habitat for Humanity.
He had a passion for golf and all things sports. You could often find Drew as either the organizer or spectator of many neighborhood or community games. He often found time to play many rounds of golf himself, as well as other sports over his lifetime.
Proudly crowned the family historian, he loved to share stories and information about our ancestors. He is survived by children; Andrew “A.J.” Joseph Finan IV and Tara McTigue (David), grandchildren; Madison McTigue, Skylar Finan, Brennan McTigue, Breigh Finan, great grandchild; Eliza Crawford, brothers; Marty and Donald, sister in laws; Janet and Peggie and many more extended family and longtime friends that were more like family.
Drew’s wishes after leaving his earthly body were to have a private cremation and no memorial service. Please honor his memory by playing a round of golf or attending a ball game with family or friends. Also please feel free to post a picture, a thought or share a story on this website.
