As a young man he honorably served his country during WWII in the US Navy. Aboard his battleship, the New Mexico, he fought in many major battles and saw action during Kamikaze raids in the Pacific until they reached Tokyo Bay where he was present at the surrender of Japan. After his honorable discharge, he and his brother owned and operated drug stores.
He was predeceased by his parents and one son, Bobby Jacobs. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Joan, his son Jeff Jacobs and wife Sue of Chicago, IL, his daughter Andrea Kaufman and husband Tom Longstaff of Pittsburgh, PA , his daughter-in-law Mary Wilson and husband Rob of NJ and his three grandchildren Danielle Jacobs, Matthew Jacobs and Isaac Longstaff.
