Born July 29, 1942 in Philipsburg, the son of James L. and Mary (Miller) Wagner.
He was a graduate of Clearfield High School.
Walter had worked for various railroad companies for 39 years including New York Central, Penn Central, Conrail and Norfolk Southern, retiring in 2002.
He was Methodist by Faith.
Mr. Wagner was a United States Navy Veteran having served during the Vietnam Era.
Among his favorite hobbies were bicycling, kayaking, cross country skiing, hunting, fishing and reading. He also had a love for dogs.
Walter is survived by two children; Douglas Wagner and his wife Nancy of Tionesta and Deborah Wagner and her partner, Terry Fetsko of Hesston, three grandchildren; Dr. Desiree Wagner and her husband, Dr. Stephen Mohney of Rochester, NY, Whitney Wagner and her partner, Rich Gilbert of Pittsburgh and Chad Wagner and his wife Lauren of Meadville, a great grandson, Connor James Wagner and his long term girlfriend, Kathy Steel of Altoona.
He was the last member of his generation preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; Robert K. Richard H. “Casey” and T. Scott Wagner and a daughter-in-law, Cathy Wagner.
Funeral Services will be held at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield on Friday, June, 14, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Rev. John F. White officiating. Interment will be in Historic Crown Crest Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the Clearfield Honor Guard.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and on Friday from 10:00 AM until the hour of services.
