L. Dean Shaw

Mr. Shaw was born March 30, 1927 in Surveyor, the son of James and Carrie (Edwards) Shaw.

He worked as a meatcutter for Riverside Markets, then becoming a business agent for the United Food & Commerical Workers International Union until he retired on October 1, 1986. He also was co-owner of the former Shaw’s Grocery & Gas in Shawville until 1988.

Mr. Shaw was a member of the Shawville United Methodist Church.

He was a United States Army Veteran having served during World War II.

Dean is survived by three children; Gary Shaw and his wife Leslie of Shawville, Tim Shaw and his wife Dawn of Goshen and Connie Magana and her husband Paul of Hermiston, OR, two grandsons; Joshua Shaw and his wife Natasha of Perryville, MD and John Magana of Penleton, OR, two great grandchildren; Logan Shaw and Liana Shaw both of Perryville, MD, three sisters; Helen Mellott of Tonawanda, NY, Bernice Collins of Penn Hills and Aggie Vanderburg of Clearfield, a brother, Hugh Shaw of Shawville and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, A. Faye (Graham) Shaw who passed away January 4, 1998 and whom he married September 23, 1949 and four brothers; Keith, Rex, Lee and Guy Shaw.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield with Pastor Robert F. Henry officiating. Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the Clearfield Honor Guard. Interment will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the hour of services.
