Born on May 26, 1948 in Philipsburg, he was the son of Frank T. & Ivy Hertlein, Sr.
Frank was a 1966 graduate of West Branch High School, Morrisdale, PA. He received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Lock Haven University, Lock Haven, PA.
On October 20, 2012, he wed the former Margaret H. Ries Flanagan, of Clearfield at the home of
his brother, Timothy Hertlein.
He was employed by River Hill Coal Co., Pottersdale, PA where he worked as a machine operator for 20 years.
Frank was a member of Karthaus Community Alliance Church, Karthaus, PA where he was a lifelong member, Elder and Emeritus of Education for Sunday school, and treasurer for over 40 years. He loved church along with traditional and southern gospel music. He often said his perfect day was mowing grass where he felt closest to God. Frank was a very humble man.
Besides attending church, he enjoyed visiting antique shops with his sisters and loved collecting toy trucks and tractors.
Frank is survived by his wife; step-daughter Terra Noerr and her husband, Chris and grandchildren, Leeum and Brendon Noerr all of Lewistown; one sister, Patricia ‘Patsy’ Kimble, Clearfield, PA; three brothers, Glenn Hertlein and his wife, Debbie of Karthaus, PA; Timothy Hertlein and his wife, Christine and Lee Hertlein and his wife, Beverly all of Frenchville, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Louise Kirkwood, Eva Jane ‘Gigi’ Hertlein, Edith Hertlein, infant brothers, niece, Abby Hertlein-Green, and nephew, Benny Kimble.
Committal services will be held at Oak Hill Memorial Cemetery, Karthaus on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 10 a.m. with Pastor James Knepp officiating.
