A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Baptist Center Baptist Church in Clayton, North Carolina with Pastor Ray Carr officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the church, prior to the service.
Robert, better known as “Woodie” to all his family and friends, was baptized and joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Newark, NJ in 1964. He received his education through the Essex County School System, graduating from Irvington Technical High School, Irvington, NJ in 1972. He enjoyed 28 years in the Auto Body Industry, after which he became an independent Truck Owner Operator before retiring in 2003.
Woodie enjoyed bowling, woodworking, shooting pool, riding his Can Am, restoring old cars, and spending time with his grandchildren. In 1982, he was joined in marriage to Ms. Peggy Ogburn. They have two daughters. In 2013, Woodie and Peggy relocate from Linden, NJ to Clayton, NC where they joined Baptist Center Church in 2014.
Woodie is survived by his wife of 40 years, Peggy Ogburn Johnson; children, Sherri (Doug) Snyder of Clarksville, TN and Kellie (Scottie) Myers of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Dyami Snyder, Amari Snyder, Jayden Myers, Nasim Myers, Kai Myers; great-granddaughter, Indie Gainey; two sisters, Jessie Davis of Smithfield, NC and Sylvia Harrington of Rockingham, NC; two aunts, Ethel Johnson of Hermitage, PA and Sadie Pinckey, of Newark, NJ; one uncle, Charles (Juliet) Gray, of South Hill, VA; one nephew, Kenan Davis of Lorton, VA; and host of family and friends.
