A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 13, 2024 in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow in the Mausoleum of Pinecrest Memorial Park in Clayton, North Carolina.
The family will receive friends following the committal service at the Mattocks’s Residence, 691 Riverwood Drive, Archer Lodge, North Carolina.
She was born in Harnett County, North Carolina on April 15, 1935 to the late Alton Wilkerson and the late Mary Clayton Wilkerson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Sherrill Wilkerson.
Nannie Johnson was known for her warm heart and deep appreciation of for the simple joys of life. Nannie found solace and joy in the beauty of nature, particularly in her love for flowers. She often cultivated a garden filled with azaleas in the spring and tomatoes in the summer and she took great delight in the vibrant colors and fragrances that surrounded her.
She is survived by her two daughters, Kim and Ray Lippart and Tammy Johnson of Raleigh; grandchildren, Jason Graham of Garner, Ashley Graham of Clayton, Amy and Kyle Mitchell of Charlotte, Emily and Jim Mattocks of Clayton, Abby Graham and Dustin Kusel of Candler, and Carly and Matthew Mize of Boone; great grandchildren, Izzy Graham, Gabby Graham, Violet Van Schoor, Josephine Mattocks, Matilda Mitchell, Margot Mitchell and Everly Mize; brothers and sisters, Mary Lee Pollard of Linden, Conrad Wilkerson of Raleigh, Ray Wilkerson and wife, Jan of Garner, and Cecil Wilkerson of Arkansas.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Lawndale Assisted Living and Nannie’s cherished friends at Lawndale, as well as the compassionate team at Hospice of Wake County, for the unwavering care and support they provided.
