Larry Noble Durham passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on December 28th, 2022, at the age of 78. Larry was born in Johnston County, NC on January 15th, 1944, he was the son of the late Hunter Megar Durham and Etta Pearl Durham of Clayton, NC.
Larry graduated from Wilson Mills High School and served honorably in the United States National Guard. He then began welding and spent most of his career in the welding industry. Along with being an incredible welder, he was an equally talented archer, farmer, hunter, and fisherman. He enjoyed being surrounded by his family and spending time outdoors in his barn, on his tractor, and on his boat. He spent countless hours fishing for sheepshead, and always returned home with a cooler full. He also enjoyed doing anything that allowed him to be with his wife, Pat, his absolute best friend. This included bird watching on their veranda, traveling to the coast, gardening, fishing, hunting, and so much more. He was happy as long as they were together.
He loved making people laugh and found great humor in jumping out to scare a loved one as they turned the corner. Even with all his skills and talents, his greatest attribute was that he was a remarkable husband, father, papa, and friend to all. His love for his family and friends was unmatched and unwavering. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, generosity, and his dedication to his loved ones. He was a selfless, kind, and honest man. Always.
Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Patricia Durham, who he adored and cherished more than life. His daughters Christy Durham Parks (Robert) of Clayton, and Tammy Durham Lee (Blake) of Clayton; Goddaughters Ryan Taylor (Brandon), Sharon Barbour (Joe); Nine grandchildren, Dustin Parks, Drew Parks, Cade Parks, Aspyn Lee (Kyle), Alexa Lee, Melissa Waters (Ryan), Kyle Barbour (Allison), Connor Barbour, and Hope Barbour.
